I fell in love with James Allen, the way Yossarian fell in love with the Chaplin in the book Catch-22. I was reading As a man thinketh for the first time. I fell in love with the words and the mind of a man who lived in the 20th century. My love transcends time and reason, unrequited as it may be.
A man who can write this “He who cherishes a beautiful vision, a lofty ideal in his heart, will one day realize it.” has my heart!
And then go on to say this “Cherish your visions, cherish your ideals, cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment; of these, if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built.”
What more could my mind ask for? What other sweet words could my heart long for? James Allen has left me satiated. Through this wonderful piece of genius ‘As a man thinketh’ he spoke to my thirsty mind, my hungry heart and fed them till I felt I couldn’t take anymore. I mean, it’s practically rendered me poetic!
Need some food for your soul? Allow James Allen to give you a taste of his magic.
