About 2 weeks ago a friend shared a tweet where Steve Harvey uploaded a video where he talks about how sometimes we don’t have things because we don’t ask for them. You can find the video at the end of this post. In the video Steve goes on to suggest writing a list of 300 things you would like to ask for from God. He confidently asserts that if you go back to that list after a year, at least 10% (30 items) of the things on the list would have happened.
The way he spoke about it all made me want to start my own list before I even finished watching the video, which is about 8 minutes. I thought it would be easy to write the list because I know what I want and have vision boards and things like that. To my surprise even getting to a hundred was difficult. In the end, it took me 7 days to get to 300.
Check out the video and if like me you feel compelled to write your own list, please do so and let’s see how many things we’ll be able to tick off after a year.
My list ranged from current needs, to purpose/passion related things, to dreams I’ve had, to fun things and sometimes ridiculous things. I love that there are 300 things because then I don’t have to feel bad for including things that seem frivolous or just plain crazy. To give you an example of the kinds of things I included, here are 30 things from my list, randomly picked:
- New phone
- To be interviewed by Tim Ferriss on his podcast
- Stay at luxurious hotels
- Speak/preach internationally
- Attend A-fest
- Have a chef at our home
- Someone have me on their vision board
- I impact people’s lives
- Own a private plane
- Get a Birkin bag as a gift (thanks to an episode of Gilmore girls many years ago lol)
- Hang out with Lisa Nichols
- Have a book traditionally published
- Buy my mom a brand new car
- Visit Paris
- Have a destination wedding
- Tip 100% at restaurants
- Live in an ocean view property
- Be someone who activates faith in people
- Help people love themselves
- Be able to buy any book I want
- Get a gift from Tiffany’s
- Fly first class
- Make 10 times my buy in from an investment
- Give a commencement address at a college, university or art institute
- Speak at a Woman Evolve conference
- Guest appear on a TV show or movie as myself
- Beautiful journals to write in
- Well stocked fridge
- Have a personal assistant
- My life being proof that anything is possible.
All the best with your list and if you feel like taking your list a step further, you can turn some of the things in it into a vision letter.
Here’s the video:
I just heard about this tonight and I hope to start my list tomorrow. I hope yours are coming true. I hope I’ll be able to review the list morning and night like he said.
All the best with your list Sharon. I’m excited for you because it was such a fun process writing the list. Mine are coming true bit by bit. I can’t wait to give an update when a year has passed. I hope you’ll do the same.
I’m on #202 I started at 8:10 this evening and it is now 10:25pm I’m trying to finish my list tonight!
Wow! That many in just a couple of hours? That’s impressive. I’m sure you’re done with it by now. All the best with the things on your list being manifested.
This has been something I really wanted to do but never got the energy and motivation to do so! However, the new year, new me! I feel like doing something for this year. Writing down my vision, just like steve said, is what motivates me. I hope everyone reading this can take a couple hours and complete the 300 things list!! I am going to do mine now!
I’m so happy for you that you’ve decided to do this. All the best with your list. I hope it keeps you motivated.
